Diseases and Conditions Related to Infertility
Before a woman undergoes an ivf procedure, there are a number of conditions that may exist and are related to infertility problems. These conditions or diseases must be treated first because most of them interfere with the normal ovulation and some also affect the uterus. Prolactinoma is adenoma (benign tumor) of the pituitary gland. This disease changes the menstrual cycle thus can affect the success of in vitro fertilization treatment. Other diseases are; turner syndrome which is an inherited chromosomal condition. Women with this condition do not have ovarian function; cystic fibrosis is also an inherited disease that affects the mucus and the sweat gland. A person suffering from cystic fibrosis cannot carry pregnancy to term. There are also sexually transmitted diseases in women that can interfere with in vitro fertilization treatment. These are pelvic inflammatory disease and Chlamydia. Last but not least, endometriosis which is the growth of cells similar to those that form the inside of the uterus can also affect in vitro fertilization negatively.
